Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to pursue a career as professional dancer. But, while watching her sister Katie in her role on the Ladies Room movie set, Emily began to be interested in acting. Her career in acting began when she began taking classes. She also got guest spots on shows from her home country of Canada. Some of the shows she was a part of, among other shows included Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active, Dice. VanCamp experienced career breakthrough following his appearance as regular Sam Dolan on the WB horror-themed mystery series Glory Days. Even even though the show received great reviews, it unfortunately was cancelled after only 9 episodes due to its poor ratings. Despite her May 12th 1986 birth date she was offered an appearance on Everwood on its set as Amy Abbott. Her part in the movie was rewarded with 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
